The coach of the Super Eagles has stated that Nigeria’s World cup group will be an interesting group and the last game against Argentina might decide a lot for Nigeria.
Gernot Rohr disclosed this just moments after Nigeria was paired with Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group D of the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
According to Gernot Rohr, Group D is filled with good teams and playing Argentina again will make things tougher for the Super Eagles.
“We are in the last pot and we expected to be in group with teams ahead of us in the FIFA rankings, we have to prepare well,” said Rohr after the draw ceremony. Our first game will be against Croatia and we have to play a good friendly game, for example with Serbia because they played similar football. Our second game against Iceland, we have to go to the Northern part of Europe and get a good friendly game,” he said.

“We know about Argentina, they are a good team. This game will be more difficult than the friendly game we won, Messi will be available now. Iceland is a good team, they are strong and they have the best fans in Europe. They did well at the last Euros championship. It will be an interesting group and our last game against Argentina might decide a lot for us. We have to work hard and prepare,” he added.
Before the draw, the Nigerian coach, who anticipated a difficult Russia 2018 World Cup draw and was one of the first to arrive for the Draw stated;
“Drawing Germany would be very nice but for my mother it would be difficult – because she is for Germany”.
