The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday charged Nigerians to go pick up their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) if they are yet to do so, in order to enable them vote during the 2019 General Elections.
Apart from the sensitization rally of market women and general public on the participation and peaceful elections, which was done by INEC lead by the Deputy Director, voters Education Department, INEC Lakuya Dorothy – Bello at Wuse and Gwagwalada market in Abuja, a few days ago with the theme “the 2000-strong National Woman, Youth and Persons with Disability walk for peace and massive turn out ahead of 2019 General Elections”, the election body has also taken another step in ensuring that participants get their PVCs, by sending a Nation wild SMS.
The massage reads;
“Are you a registered voter and yet to collect your PVC? Please visit INEC’s LGA office where you registered to collect your PVC from 9am-3pm, Monday To Friday, until 8th February 2019.
Remember, No PVC, No Voting !”
It could be recalled that INEC assured Nigerians that their votes would count, thereby urging them to go out in mass and acquire their PVC.
Even the people living with disability are not left out of the discussion, as INEC mentioned repeatedly that they have rights in the society and that their votes will also be recognized.
Nigeria in the past has a long history of election rigging, it is a known fact that the candidate with the most money and power emerges the winner in any election.
Perhaps that is the reason most Nigerians are luke-warm in getting their PVC.
One cannot stress enough, how important getting the PVC is at a moment like this, it is only right that we exercise our right to vote and ask questions later.
