Former captain of Arsenal and assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Mikel Arteta has been officially announced as the new Head Coach of Arsenal FC.
The former club captain, Arteta featured for Arsenal from 2011-2016 and has thus signed a three-and-a-half year contract as Head Coach of his former club.
Arteta said in an interview
“This is a huge honour. Arsenal is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We need to be competing for the top trophies on the game and that’s been made very clear to me in my discussions with the Stan and Josh Kroenke, and the senior people of the club.”
Arteta believes that there’s alot of work to be done and goals set to be achieved and believes his players, current squad and youth team are up to the task.
Arteta’s coaching staff will be announced as soon as possible as his first game in charge will be against Everton at Goodison Park, Saturday 21st December, lunch time.
