The Nigerian Women National Team, Super Falcons played a sweet host to their Algerian counterpart with a 1-0 victory in the second leg of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifier at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.
Asisat Oshoala’s second half goal was the only difference between the North and West African sides.
The Thomas Dennerby tutored side came into the game with 2 goals advantage and the Algerians were solid defensively through out the first half to keep the Super Falcons at bay.
64 minutes on, Asisat tries to extend the lead further for the Falcons with a fine loop from the edge of the box but was denied by the cross bar.
Four additional minutes was awarded to full time and the Super Falcons kept pushing for more goals but it all ended with Asisat’s only goal at the Agege Stadium.
The Falcons are through to the third round of the 2020 Olympic qualifier. They will battle either Mali or Cote d’Ivoire in the next round later in September.
