Belgium are through to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia after they defeated Brazil 2-1 at the Kazan Arena on Friday night.

Vincent Kompany with an early goal, barely 13 minutes into the game as he gets his head onto a corner kick at the near post and it takes a touch off Fernandinho’s elbow and beats Alisson.

31 minutes on, Belgium doubled the tally. Fellaini heads the ball away to Lukaku who charges all the way through midfield, dancing past a couple of markers. The Manchester United striker then locates Kevin De Bruyne perfectly just outside the area, and the midfielder takes an absolutely superb shot which beats Alisson.

76 minutes on the clock, Renato Augusto pulled one back for Brazil. It’s the substitute who rises highest and gets his head to a sumptuous Phillipe Coutinho cross, beating Courtois, who has otherwise looked imperious all through the game.

But wasn’t enough to pull them through as the much anticipated meeting has certainly lived up to expectations at the end of the game. Both sides had a number of chances to score but it is Belgium who secured a 2-1 win.
