President Muhammadu Buhari has taken to social media to congratulate the Super Falcons of Nigeria after their victory over South Korea during their FIFA Women World Cup clash on Wednesday.
After recording a 3-0 defeat to Norway during their opener on Saturday, the Super Falcons came out strong as they thrashed South Korea Republic 2-0 to take all three points in what could have proven to be a hugely important result in the campaign.
President Buhari took to his twitter official page to congratulate the ladies, adding that he’s proud of the victory.
“I’m pleased I was able to watch the Super Falcons match against South Korea, after the Democracy Day Lunch. Congratulations to the Team and Coaching Crew. A well-deserved win on a very special day for Nigeria. We are all proud of your victory.”
Nigeria became the first African side in Women’s World Cup history to win their second group game at the tournament, with 12 of the previous 13 such matches ending in defeat for sides from Africa
