Maurizio Sarri men on Wednesday night conquered their Premier League counterpart, Arsenal 4-1 to secure the Europa League title in Baku, thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Pedro and Eden Hazard double.
After first 45 minutes of goalless draw, the Blues broke the deadlock just four minutes into the second half with former Arsenal striker, Giroud on target.
The Frenchman had gone close against his former club in the first half, but this time there was nothing Cech could do to deny him. Giroud stole a march on Koscielny, diving low to meet Emerson’s cross and direct a brilliant header into the bottom-right corner.
His celebration was a subdued one, but that was no doubt his biggest goal of the season so far.
60 minutes on Pedro makes It 2-0 for the Blues. Maitland-Niles’ poor pass was pounced on by the Blues, with Kovacic spinning the ball in behind to Hazard, who opened up his body before sending a perfect pass into Pedro, and he made no mistake with a pinpoint first-time finish.
5 minuted later, Hazard made it 3-0 from the spot kick. The Belgian stayed as cool as ever, sent Cech the wrong way and slotted home down the middle.
69 minutes on the clock, Iwobi made an immediate impact, pulled one back to make it 3-1, slamming in a brilliant half-volley from the edge of the area after Chelsea failed to clear from a free-kick.
72 minutes on, Hazard made it 4-1. Giroud was the provider this time, lifting a brilliant pass into space in the area, with Hazard on hand to tuck home his 21st goal of the season.
