In a bid to keep their star man at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea Chelsea are reportedly ready to make Eden Hazard their captain heading into the 2018/19 season.
With media speculations regarding Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge and Real Maddi keen to sign the Belgian this summer, Chelsea remain determined to keep hold of Hazard for as long as they can, with the Belgian’s current contract at the club expiring in the summer of 2020.
According to report from Daily Mail, the Blues’ new manager Maurizio Sarri is weighing up his options ahead of next season, with a change of captaincy on the cards.
Nice touch for #cfc to consider offering #Hazard captaincy to persuade him too stay. But the guy wants to win major trophies, especially Champions League, so making more major signings will have a much bigger impact. Ambition of the club far more important than individual honour.

It’s stated in the report that Chelsea perceive the role of club captain as something that could convince Hazard to snub interest from Real this summer, with an added responsibility given to the winger ahead of next season.
However, the Blues do have a captain already of course in Gary Cahill, though if he were to leave before the start of the season, as some rumors, stemming from his decreasing playing time, have claimed, there would be need for a replacement. (He could also simply be deposed, but that’s always trickier.)
Beyond Hazard, others reportedly to be considered by Sarri are – Jorginho, current Vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta and wily old veteran Cesc Fàbregas, who certainly knows how to politic better than most.
