The NYSC Zamfara State Coordinator, Namalam Mohammed Taura, has led some Management Staff and Corps Members of Charity CDS group on a visit to Gusau Orphanage and donated food items which include; cartons of indomie noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, bathing soap, detergents, sanitizers, liquid soap and face masks.
During the presentation, the Coordinator informed the Director in Charge of the Home, Hajia Hauwa Tukur, that the visit was in line with NYSC’s desire to assist the State Government and indeed her citizens to cushion the effects of these days.
He advised that the food items and the prevention materials be used for the benefit of the orphans and also pleaded with the management of the home to observe all necessary protocols and preventive measures as regards the coronavirus pandemic.
The Director of the Gusau Orphanage, Hajia Hauwa Tukur, who received the items on behalf of the Commissioner, Ministry of Women and Children, assured the Coordinator and his team that the donated food items would be used strictly for the children while the COVID-19 prevention materials would be used by the staff and the children of the home.
Similarly, the Coordinator and his team paid a visit to his Royal Highness, The Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Bello (Sarkin Katsina Gusau) and donated to the Emirate Council, COVID-19 prevention materials to combat against the spread of the pandemic.
The State Coordinator informed the traditional ruler about several intervention that the Corps Members in Zamfara State have made to curtail the spread of the virus.
He appealed to the Corps Members to ensure that constant sensitization of their host community is sustained and proper hygiene messages are communicated.
The morarch also used the forum to appeal to all and sundry to come together to synergize and brainstorm for solutions to fight the dreaded disease.
