In commemoration of the 47th Anniversary of the NYSC Scheme, Borno State Secretariat carried out a mega 3-in-1 Programme at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp located at Moduganari in Maiduguri.
The first segment of the programme was sensitization of the persons therein on covid-19, its mode of transmission, symptoms, preventive measures and what to do if infected by the virus.
To deliver the message effectively, the sensitization was done by a corps doctor in Kanuri language which is mainly spoken by the inhabitants of the camp.
Pamphlets on covid-19 were equally shared to them. The second component of the programme was the distribution of the covid-19 palliatives in NYSC Borno customized packages containing food items and other accessories for home use.
The camp manager told us that when the IDPs were informed NYSC Borno was coming to visit and provide charitable and free medical services to them they were jubilating through out the night.
They said NYSC always shows genuine and sincere concerns regarding their condition. This was clearly narrated during the vote of thanks by one of them, Malam Muhammad.
Sick women, men, elderly, young and the children in very large numbers were treated by our team of corps medical professionals.
We did not leave the camp till all the patients were attended to and the prescribed drugs dispensed to them. We had the doctors consulting table, pharmacists section and the mini mobile laboratory.
It was a heart touching event. The hope and the confidence they have on the capabilities of NYSC in attending to their medical and other needs could not be expressed in writing.
Earlier in his remarks, the State Coordinator, Nura Umar informed the IDPs that the visit was in commemoration of the 47th Anniversary of the Scheme and enjoined them to listen attentively to the sensitization on Covid-19 and make good use of the preventive measures to stay safe.
We sincerely appreciate the Director-General for the purposeful leadership given to the Scheme which is flying it to enviable heights.
