The people of Kano city are in panic and have raised alarm and are concerned over the increasing number of burials conducted at various cemetery in the State over the last weekend.

The ancient city of Kano has been thrown into confusion and panic as persons, recording over 150 have been buried between Friday and Saturday last week, adding that it’s mysterious, as many dead bodies have been buried in different cemeteries.
Some concerned residents took to social media to report the incident and the cause of the panic among the residents of Kano city.
A Twitter user identified as Ugo posted that there has been a little panic and is on the rise in Kano, as about 23 person have been reported to have the coronavirus, he beckons for calm among the people.

Also another concerned individual identified as Abdul Kareem B. Aminu posted that the panic in Kano is right and calls upon the NCDC to raise alarm and notify the President to do something as the panic is super – dire and bleak in the state.

Omo Kikan, another Twitter user calls for calm in the state adding that despite the increase number of 36 Covid-19 cases in Kano, it doesn’t call for panic, she further advised that people should cooperate with health workers.

Comrade Deji Adeyanju also shared a post confirming the news going round, stating the alarming number of mysterious death of over 150persons in Kano under the pass 3 days.

According to reports gathered, residents of Kano living close to the cemetery disclosed that more burials have taken place than normal as the raise concerns stating that the dead bodies might be victims of the coronavirus.
Some grave diggers at some cemeteries in Kano city stated that the rate at which they received corpses, of recent was unusual compared to the number of people they buried before the Covid-19 pandemic.
A resident of Kano, identified as Mukhtar Y. Buharista concurred with the stories making rounds over the increased number of people been buried recently.
He disclosed in a tweet that the rumors are true as he was an eye witness, adding that, his Uncle died and was buried at the Bulukiya graveyard, on entering the place, he stated that it was filled with people burying their loved ones, as more people came in with dead bodies to be buried, when suddenly another dead woman was also brought in as well.

Although the Ministry of Health Kano in a tweet via their Twitter handle pleaded with people peddling rumors on social media over the number of deaths, to desist from such, adding that they have investigated and discovered that it’s all untrue and must be dispelled.

It further tweet following the reports of the increased number of deaths, the Ministry has deployed officers to all burials grounds to count bodies brought in for burial everyday.

The Ministry of Health Kano, further assured the immediate verification of the claims making the rounds. The Commissioner of Health, Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa gave his assurance to the general public that investigation into the matter is on going to verify the claims and the cause of the deaths.
