President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday announced another 14 days lockdown effective from 11:59 pm on Monday 13th April, 2020, to stop the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
The president made the announcement in an address to the nation that was aired on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) network on Monday, April 13 as the full lockdown was extended in Lagos, Ogun and FCT.
He encouraged Nigerians to endure a little longer to sustain gains of battle against the coronavirus pandemic. He also acknowledged the impact of the lockdown on Nigerians who earn daily wages.
However, President Buhari’s announcement raised a lot of dust as many Nigerians took to social media to react.
Many expressed worry over the welfare of less privileged citizens as well as the increased crime rates in states like Lagos and Ogun
