The former governor of Imo state, Mr. Rochas Okorocha and wife, Nkechi according to reports will have some of their properties seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
The crime-fighting commission said through the Head of the Enugu Zonal Office of the commission, Usman Imam. In a press briefing in Enugu state on Wednesday, Imam said that the commission had obtained orders to forfeiture some of the properties which belonged to the former governor and his wife which they believed to have been gotten through fraudulent means.
According to the Enugu zonal office commissioner, the commission also got the same orders on a property that belonged to the former governor, Paschal Obi, and his daughter.
The properties to be forfeited include a 16-block cum 96 flats and an eight-bungalow multi-million naira estate, hotel, two schools, shopping plaza, supermarket, hospital, and four vehicles.
Once upon a time Mr Rochas was a decent philanthropist and did a lot of good for the poor when he lived in Abuja. His good deeds were sung across the capital by people mostly women who received support from him day in day out. From paying school fees, to offering bags of rice and other food items in their tones to hungry and starving abujaites way back in the 2000’s
It is unfortunately that the saying absolute power corrupts absolutely as Mr Rochas now faces the law for crimes of embezzlement whilst being the Servant of the people of Imo State for eight years as Governor
