Naria Marley a well-known Nigerian musician took to his Twitter account @officalnairam1 urging his fellow youths to join him in a protest against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) who has been killing the Nigerian youths unprovoked labeling criminals based off their flashy cars, mood of dressing, and hair style.
The star tweeted this;

In response to his tweet, the Minister for Youths, Sunday Dare took to his Twitter account @SundayDareSD and asked that the musician stop any plans of carrying out a protest assuring him that the government were already doing something about the issue.
His tweet reads;
I urge you and other youth not to embark upon any protest. Your grievances are being addressed at the highest level of government. As the Minister in charge of youth I know this is an issue that must be tackled. Government is doing just that.

Initially the marlian president had refused to listen to the pleads coming from the minister but later succumbed to his request.
Ekale Sir. We have heard this before. Four times. Why will this time be different? Do you really care about the youth? Many of us have been killed and they harass us everyday. What is the assurance this time? We need assurance https://t.co/46pAes9M6N

We won’t be protesting anymore because there’s a lot of changes being made right now. As a Marlian we will give them a week to see the changes and if there’s no changes we will start a mass protest. #togetherwecan https://t.co/RNBXZ0IOfw

We will see if it was a good idea to actually call of the protest, we have seen a lot of promise and fail situations to still believe in the words of our leaders.
