Olivier Giroud’s header gave the Blues an edge over BATE during their Europa League Group L match as they secured a 1-0 victory at Borisov Arena.
The Blues broke the deadlock 52 minutes into the game as Jorginho’s over-the-top pass was cut out but BATE couldn’t clear and the Italian got another chance. Emerson quickly received the ball and whips in a fantastic cross for Giroud, who heads the ball low past Scherbitski at his near post.

Emerson’s cross really came from nothing, and Scherbitski looked distraught to have conceded.
Chelsea grab a probably just deserved victory after Giroud capitalised on their one quality delivery of the game, but BATE had chances, hitting the post twice.
Full-time and job done! 🙌
That’s 4/4 in the Europa League, and a place in the round of 32 secured. @_OlivierGiroud_’s header proving decisive in Belarus. 👌
