An Instagram user identified as Omotexas has shared a heart breaking video of female students who are boarders at the St. John of God Secondary school Awka, Anambra state, offloading a trailer filled with bags of bean, as the students were forcefully made to carry the bags of bean or face punishment.
The St. John of God Secondary School, Awka, which is one the popular Catholic schools in the Awka region of Anambra state, was founded in 1964 by the Rev. Sisters of the congregation of St. John of God from Ireland, the school was borne out the mission to have a secondary school for girls in Awka.
Omotexas who shared the the video online, stated that the female students were been asked to carry this punishment by the school’s rector Rev. Fr. John Bosco, O. Nkanyimuo, adding that those who failed to carry the bags were knelt down and flogged.
He further stated that parent should be made aware of what their wards go through in the so called boarding school as their children are made to undergo corporal punishment and worst all in the name of discipline.
The school’s administration has yet to denounce or make a statement regarding the video widely shared on the internet currently.
