A man identified as @mexzipete shared a post via twitter of a rare albino hippopotamus which was believed to have wrecked havoc on farmlands around the banks of River Niger, has been trapped and killed by some fishermen in Samanaji area, of Kebbi state.
@mexzipete who shared the post was of the opinion that, despite the Hippos must have wrecked havoc isn’t a enough reason for it to be killed, stating Hippos are low in number in Nigeria and rather than killing the rarest of them all, the fishermen should have contacted National Geographic.

Reports have it that the Council Chairman of Samanaji, Bello Sarkin Gabas, and his council members visited the area were the hippo was killed and was seen stepping on the dead hippo.

This has got social media users outraged stating that the people were ignorant of the fact that Albino hippos are one of a kind and they could have made money of it by selling it to a Zoo, while some are of the opinion that they committed a crime by killing it.
