Former Lyon boss, Gerard Houllier says newly signed Arsenal forward, Alexandre Lacazette is well suited to Arsene Wenger’s style and expects him to become an asset to the North London based side.
Lacazette was confirmed as a record signing for Arsenal today, after completing his record move from Ligue 1 side Lyon to the English FA cup kings, Arsenal.
The france international, who scored 37 times last season for Lyon in all competitions has been backed by former Liverpool manager Houllier to light up the Premier League following his impressive performances at Lyon.
“He’s very mobile, quick, good in short spaces, has good skill and he scores goals,” Houllier said, speaking to talkSports.
“He was the top scorer in France in 2014/2015, the best player in the league in 2015 and has been French scorer over the last three seasons.
“He scores more than 25goals every season. One thing he will bring to Arsenal is goals. His main asset is to score goals.
“He has good technique, is good t using short spaces and is a hard working player. He can attack, he can defend quickly. I’m not surprised Arsene fancied him.
“He will fit in their game. He will suit their passing game, the way they build up, [and] their approach. He is very good near the box,
“He is a bit like Ian Wright really. You don’t seem to see him and then suddenly he moves,” he added.
The 26-year-old, who scored over seventy goals in the last three seasons in the league for Lyon, was Atletico Madrid bound, until the Spanish outfit had a transfer ban upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS.
Lacazette, who signed a 5-year contract with the Arsenal, scored and assisted over 100 goals in 203 league games for Lyon.
