The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that four police stations, over 50 cars, trucks, police barracks at Oyigbo police were destroyed in the aftermath of the crisis that engulfed the area last week.
The command has also attributed the carnage to hoodlums suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
The commissioner of police in Rivers state Joseph Mukan who led a team of service commanders to various flash points in the area said the command has launched full investigation into what led to the wanton destruction lives and properties with the aim of bringing perpetrators to justice.
He dispelled rumors that DPO of oyigbo police station was beheaded stressing the DPO managed to escape the carnage.
But findings from our correspondent revealed that residents as of Sunday were still fleeing the area due to continued shootings and mass arrests ongoing in the area.
