The Fantasy Premier League, [FPL] is off and running for the 2019/2020 season with all its excitements and wahala already bedeviling managers.
Managers and lovers of the game are beginning to tinker and worry about their teams following what has been a slow start for millions of them after three game weeks.
Here at #FPLYarns, I will be taking you through my personal journey this season, and perhaps in addition to suggestions on players that can make a difference especially ahead of deadlines.
Let us start with game week four, GW4, which will see me join the Teemu Pukki bandwagon after ignoring him for the previous game weeks.
The Norwich City star has emerged as an unlikely FPL darling this term following their promotion to the English Premier League. I really should have seen it coming, after he netted 29 times last season to help them gain promotion to the elite level.
Yours truly cannot ignore him anymore and thus, I have joined the bandwagon – managers who own the pepper dem striker.
Three game weeks in, Pukki is joint-top scorer in the PL alongside Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, but also the top-scoring forward with 35 points in the FPL – where he stands alone.
Averaging over 11.66 points a game, for a player whose value has now risen to £7m, he remains a sure value for money pick, at least for now.
Norwich City travel to West Ham United this weekend and this is hoping I have not jinxed the whole Pukki-madness o!
OTHERS: Guess Who Is Back?
I don’t have him, but Kelvin De Bruyne, £9.6m is back and you cannot ignore him if you have the resources. He is in a wicked form for the champions, City having reasserted himself in the City team like he never even left.
He is already on four assists this season and barring another unfortunate serious injury, you can bet your money that he is one player you must have in your team.
Anthony Martial
Yes, don’t be surprised by his addition. I am aware he is out injured for this weekend but he is someone that should figure in your FPL calculations after the first international break of the season.
He has scored two goals and provided one assist in three matches this campaign before being ruled out for Manchester United’s trip to St. Mary’s.
Martial has looked rejuvenated for United this season with manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having entrusted him with leading the lines and of course, AM9. He is a player to keep tabs on.
CAPTAINS
Haha… this one no go easy this season sha. It is always decisive who one captains, and when skippo fails to deliver, our teams dey be like poverty.
Even as i type this, i have not decided on my captain yet, i am angling towards Raheem Sterling, though the armband is with Mo Salah at the moment.
Sterling looks the surest bet right now for many, yours truly included. City welcome Brighton at the Etihad while Salah and Liverpool at away at TOUGH Moor! So, who should i even captain?
But for those who have Harry Kane, you may wanna take a good look at Pukki o.
I am a huge fan of the Kane but haven’t given him a look-in so far this season –watch him shock me this weekend now with a hat-trick.
So, there you have it, my FPLYarns ahead of game week four (4). I will include my team for you to see, and I do hope you all can share your #FPLYarns with me, too. Tell me what ya thinking and why.
Have a beautiful and many points weekend!
