Frank Lampard’s Chelsea on Saturday afternoon defeated Newcastle 2-0 at St James’ Park to climb top spot in the Premier League.
Fernandez put into his own net to give the visitors an early lead and Werner, having missed a couple of glorious chances, teed up Abraham for his side’s second 25 minutes from time.
Newcastle hit the bar through Longstaff but they were deservedly beaten.
Lampard’s side have now won three games in a row in the Premier League and are eight without defeat in all competitions.
Next up is a trip to Rennes in the Champions League on Tuesday, while Newcastle are away to Crystal Palace in their next top-flight outing in six days’ time.
