EFCC have arrested a newly elected lawmaker, who fraudulently collected the sum of N26m from a lady for his political campaign.
The newly elected member of the Kwara State House Assembly identified as Hon. Abdulgafar Ayinla, was recently arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) over his alleged involvement in asset scam, forgery and collection of up to N26m under a false identity from his victim.
The victim who lives in the United state explained that she bought two plot of land with four bedroom bungalow from the suspect which was situated at Agric area of Ilorin.
She alleged that she paid a commission of N8,240,000 for the land and was informed by Mr. Ayinla that he had paid the land seller the money she gave him, but the victim revealed that the suspect did not pay the land owner and had refused to refund her money.
Mr. Ayinla has since confessed to the crime as he stated that he used the money to fund his political campaign, disclosing that he was going to pay back the money using his wardrobe allowance when he receives it from the Kwara State House of Assembly.
However, despite the fact that he was to be sworn in on May 29 2019, the commission is bent on taking him to court.
