Google+ Officially shutting down on April 2, 2019. Is anyone surprised?
Hitvibz received an email this morning concerning an upcoming shutdown of Google+ accounts in the near future.
So I Logged in to hitvibz Google+ account today and noticed an announcement notification that read – ‘We’re shutting down Google+ for consumers on April 2, 2019’.
A quick Google search suggested that this was not new information as a few months ago (December 2018) they had made the information public but did not provide an official date for the shutdown.
Lets face it, Google+ was never going to be able to compete with the likes of Facebook.
They are more like the organisers of information. This service has been around long enough for no one to take notice, with most calling it a failure to launch; thinking others used it religiously in comparison to other similar services is a clear fantasy I might add. It seems very few would be affected by the termination.
Hitvibz Tech wiz reached out to the Google+ team for comments and to ask some questions about the emphasis on consumer personal account/profile, consumers content and data protection as well as privacy plus alternative google platforms that we could transfer to without the hassle of downloading and re-uploading content.
I was advised to hit the Frequently asked question about Google+ shutdown.
