On Saturday, Chelsea FC played their 250th Premier League London derby – the Blues have won more such games than any other side in the competition (128) but it didn’t end well as they were defeated 1-0 by West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.
First half ended with a goalless draw with Chelsea having more strike on target but 3 minutes into second half, West Ham scored the only and winning goal.
Thanks to Aaron Cresswell, who overlapped down the left wing, cuts inside and beat James, before sliding the ball into the far right-hand corner of the net, out of the reach of Chelsea – Kepa.
The goal wasn’t the only talking point of the day as the Hammer’s third choice goalkeeper – David Martin finally made his Premier League debut after 16 years as a professional.
The emotional 33-year-old broke down in tears at full time after keeping a clean sheet against Frank Lampard‘s men at the Bridge.
He took to his twitter page to say;
“So happy to make my premier league debut. The lads in front of me were terrific and the @WestHam fans were so loud, you really drove us on to get an important 3 points.”
Dreams do come true after all, no matter the age.
