Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde and Luka Modric got on the scoresheet as Real Madrid conquered Real Sociedad despite going down in the second minute.
Willian Jose stunned the Santiago Bernabeu stadium as early as the second minute to give Real Sociedad an unexpected lead, no thanks to Sergio Ramos’ poor back pass to Courtois.
It would be the first goal Thibaut Courtois will be conceding in his last five games in all competitions for Madrid.
Moving on from the Ramos’ howler, Madrid tried to find a rhythm in the game but their best chance was from Ferland Mendy’s thunderous shot which Sociedad’s GK could only parry away before it was cleared.
Eden Hazard also showed flashes of intent and had his 25th minute shot at goal saved by Alex Romero.
Zinedine Zidane’s men continued to pile pressure on Sociedad to makeover for their earlier lapses till the equalizer eventually came in the 36th minute.
A Luka Modric’s set piece was well headed home by in-form Karim Benzema. The header took Benzema’s Laliga tally for the season to 10 goals.
The goal brought in more urgency to Madrid’s game but all the chances created amounted to nothing tangible as the first half ended one-all.
Second half started off just the opposite way with which the first half did.
Valverde sent a thunderbolt which deflected off a Sociedad player to give Real Madrid a 2-1 lead just two minutes into the second forty five.
The second goal for Real just like the first, was set up by Luka Modric.
Gareth Bale got subbed on in the 65th minute for Rodrygo and he was greated with boos while the young Brazilian’s name was hailed as he left the pitch.
The Welsh man sent in a right footed cross which Benzema headed down to set up Luka Modric for Madrid’s third of the night.
The goal provider who turned scorer in the 73rd minute put an icing on the cake of his Man of the match performance with his left footed volley to give Los Blancos an unassailable lead.
Three goals and three points in the bag it was at the end of the match for Real Madrid who continue to go toe to toe at the top of the league table with Barcelona.
