Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has expressed his admiration towards Kylian Mbappe ahead of their Champions League game against PSG.
Real Madrid welcome the already qualified Paris Saint-Germain to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Tuesday night for the second leg of their UCL group stage tie.
Speaking ahead of the game, Real’s French manager, Zinedine Zidane was faced with questions relating to his fellow compatriot, Kylian Mbappe who has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital.
I’ve been in love with Mbappé for a long time. I’ve been seeing him for a long time, when he came here [to Real Madrid] for trials.
The three-time Uefa Champions League winner went further to elaborate on his comment and talk on the type of performance he will be expecting from his lads.
I’m already in love with Mbappe as a person first, because I’ve known him since a long time. He’s the rival now, so I can’t say any more.
We’ve changed and it’s not a rematch. We want to show our quality, get a good result and continue with the consistency we are showing in Laliga.
We have a very good team in front of us and it is going to be an interesting game.
Meanwhile, his counterpart tomorrow, Thomas Tuchel gave a direct reply to his love quotes where he implied that sometimes, we fall in love with whom/what we can not have.
I do not know in what way or how much Zidane is in love with Mbappe, but the most important thing is he is our player. Often, we love lots of things that we ultimately cannot have.
The PSG manager subtly called out Zidane for not speaking to him about Kylian when they met during the Elit Coaches’ summit even though he claimed not to be upset.
I was in Geneva [at the Elite Coaches forum] with Zidane 2 weeks ago. We did not discuss Mbappe. If a question is asked about Kylian, he is French — what can Zidane say? Everyone knows Zidane loves Kylian, like many coaches. I am not upset.
Paris Saint-Germain sit top of Group F with 12 points, while Real Madrid are second with 7. The French champions won the first leg with three unreplied goals.
