Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann all got on the scoresheet to secure Barcelona’s place in UCL round of 16 beating Dortmund 3-1.
First half goals from Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi helped Barcelona secure a 2-0 win against Dortmund and a place in the UCL round of 16.
The battle for qualification and supremacy in Group F of the UEFA Champions League saw Barcelona welcome Borrusia Dortmund to the Camp Nou.
The German outfit started the match in impressive fashion and put up a good fight with the Catalan giants until the 29th minute when Luis Suarez broke the deadlock.
Lionel Messi got the ball at edge of the box and he did well to lay a fine pass to Suarez whose strike wasn’t going to be stopped by Burki from hitting the back of the net.
It wasn’t long until Barcelona made it 2-0, Lionel Messi doing what he knows how to do best. Frenkie De Jong capitalized on Matt Hummels’ loose ball by passing to Messi, who then combined excellently well with Suarez before stabbing home to give Barcelona a two goal cushion at half time.
There wasn’t much Dortmund could do in the second half as Barcelona consolidated on their first half performance with an unassailable lead.
French World champion, Antoine Griezmann also managed to get on the scoresheet to make it 3-0. The €120 million attacker was put through by Lionel Messi and he made no mistake in grabbing his very first Champions League goal for the catalan side.
Dortmund however, managed to get a consolatory goal from
second half substitute, Jadon Sancho who was surprisingly missing from their starting line up.
3-1 it ended in favour of Ernesto Valverde’s men, as they prove too strong and a class above Borrusia Dortmund to go top of group f and qualify for the round of 16.
