Barcelona failed to assure themselves of being Laliga leaders leading to mid week’s El clasico as they were held 2-2 by Real Sociedad.
Real Sociedad drew first blood through a penalty after Sergio Busquet tugged down Llorente in the box after a Corner kick.
Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up and converted from the spot to give the Basque side and early lead.
Just before half time, Sociedad’s ex star man, Antoine Griezmann equalized for the Catalan giants in his first return to San Sebastian as a Barcelona player.
Luis Suarez set up the French attacker from the half way line with a weighted pass, and Griezmann composed himself well enough to slot home his sixth goal of the season.
Second half came with even more actions as both side continued to deliver end to end football.
Five minutes into the second forty-five, Luis Suarez turned goal scorer to put Barça ahead in the game.
Sergio Busquet, yet again, picked out Lionel Messi with a weighted pass and the Argentine squared the Ball to Suarez for a tap in.
Despite the Blaugrana side creating more chances to extend their lead, Sociedad wouldn’t give up just yet.
Their efforts paid off in the sixty-second minute when Ter Stegen failed to handle Nahco Monreal’s cross and Alexander Isak was at the right place at the right time to make it 2-2.
Ivan Rakitic had the chance to win all three points for Barcelona when he was gifted lots of space but he powered his shot way too much.
And evenly contested game from both sides ends in draw ending Barcelona winning run of five league games and handing advantage to Real Madrid to claim top spot pending their result in tomorrow’s encounter with Valencia.
