Manchester United loanee, Odion Ighalo is set to extend his stay at Old Trafford, and will not be returning to China until January 2021.
Reports from The Telegraph suggests that the Premier League side has reached an agreement with Chinese Super League side, Shanghai Shenhua to extend Ighalo’s loan deal, which see the ex Watford star represent his childhood club until the year runs out.
The loan extension means that the new contract offered to the 30 year-old Nigerian international by the Chinese side, put on hold until next year.
Ighalo was signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on January transfer deadline day, to cover injured Marcus Rashford, and he has more than impressed for the Red devils since then.
His parent club (Shanghai Shenhua) had requested his return to prepare for the new Chinese Super league season with them–after the Coronavirus pandemic cut short his time as a United player — But having proven to be an asset worth keeping, Manchester United has pushed tirelessly to see Ighalo remain at Old Trafford longer.
The loan extension which has been agreed is still subject to approval by the English FA, and it will see Odion Ighalo spend another 8 months wearing the famous red jersey.
