It was goals galore in Anfield on opening day, as Premier League defending champions, Liverpool ran away with a 4-3 win against Leeds United.
• Mohammed Salah (3), Virgil Van Dijk, Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford, M. Klich all involved in seven goals thriller.
Salah hit a straight shot from the penalty spot after just four minutes to open scoring for Liverpool.
But the peacocks gave a reply eight minutes later through Jack Harrison, who latched onto a Phillip’s long pass after beating Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez .
Van Dijk restored lead for Jurgen Klopp in the 20th minute, four minutes after Saido Mane’s goal was disallowed.
The Dutch commanding center back powered in a header from Robertson’s corner.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men will however go on to show that they didn’t win the EFL championship just to complete numbers in EPL.
Patrick Bamford took advantage of Van Dijk’s howler to restore parity after half an hour of football played.
But the whites couldn’t comport themselves for long as Mohammed Salah made it 3-2 by half time.
Second half started with Leeds not showing any form of intimidation.
They thought they had equalized when Arnold headed the ball into his own net, but VAR saved the PFA young player of the year after replays showed Harrison tripped Alisson.
Bielsa’s men would go on to equalize for the third time in the match through Klich.
But Mohammed Salah, yet again, showed his quality, as he broke Leeds’ hearts with his third on the night, with two minutes of regular time to play.
