I am deeply saddened by the death of CAN General Secretary – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of the General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev (Dr) Musa Asake, who died on Friday morning in Abuja after an illness.

The death of Asake came about two weeks after he led a nationwide protest called by CAN against the killing of Christians by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

His brother and former member of the House of Representatives, Jonathan Asake, confirmed the death saying;

“Yes, he died this morning. We are right now in the mortuary. I was with him yesterday (Thursday ) in his house.”

President Buhari in a message of condolence issued on Saturday on his official twitter account, said he was deeply saddened by the passing of the General Secretary.

According to the President, his death is a huge loss to the Christian community in Nigeria.

The President extended his condolences to all who mourn and asked God to grant the soul of Dr. Musa Asake eternal rest

His tweet reads;

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of the General Secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev (Dr) Musa Asake. This is a huge loss to the Christian community in Nigeria. I pray that God Almighty will grant his soul eternal rest, and comfort all who mourn.”
