Chelsea kicked off their 2018 International Champions Cup with a 5-4 victory over Inter Milan on penalties at the Allianz Riviera in Nice, France.

The Blues opened scoring early into the game, just 8 minutes on the clock after a defensive mishap around the right back-line of Inter allowed Morata to nip across and keep the ball in with some brilliant footwork. He shoots himself from the left and Handanovic deflects it into the path of Pedro, who drills home.

49 minutes on, Gagliardini restored parity for the Italian side. Their speedy start to the second half got them back on equal footing as Icardi picks out a botched back-pass from Bakayoko, flies into the Chelsea box, and plays a pass right for his team-mate to drill home at the far-left post, despite Caballero landing a touch with his leg.

it all ended in penalties and the Blues were able toout-muscle the Italian team 5-4.

Both sides have two more games in the ICC before their domestic seasons get underway, though Chelsea split their remaining games with Arsenal in Dublin and Lyon at Stamford Bridge with a chance for silverware, when they face Manchester City in the Charity Shield at Wembley.

As for Inter, they too face Lyon, back home in Italy at Stadio Via del Mare, before they conclude their pre-season away at Atletico Madrid.
