What seems to be an unending protest of the members Islamic Movement of Nigeria popularly known as Shiites, has once again engaged in a confrontation with the Nigerian Police in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Police traffic stops are seen at the entrance to Abuja from Nasarawa , this is due to the Stop and search, carried out by the Nigerian Army in the vain to check the entrance of the Shiites members into the Capital Territory.
But this seem not have worked, cause a large number of the Shiites are seen at the road leading to the Secretariat, protesting for the release of their leader Ibrahim El- Zakzaky.
Despite the cordon off the road at the Secretariat by the Police, this has not deterred the protesters from chanting “Death to Buhari, death to America. I will never surrender, I will never support injustice, I will never surrender or support injustice.”
This isn’t the first protest by the member of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, and confrontation the Police.
The last protest ended with a confrontation between the Shiites and the Nigerian Police, with a Shiite member been shot by the police.
However, the situation at the front of the Secretariat gets tense, the men of the police force disperses the protesters with bullets and teargas.
Workers and passer-by on the street take to their heels, as policemen engage the protesters in a shoot out.
