It has been a hectic Monday morning for Lagosians since the ban of motorbikes aka Okada and Keke by the state governor, which saw bike and Keke riders protesting and clashing with the police.
According to reports, the police, Okada and Keke riders were involved in a shootout at Ijora Olopa area of Lagos state. The riders were also said to have damaged some properties and were throwing stones at buses.
The protesting riders insisted on going about their business despite the ban on their operations.
On the 1st of February of 2020, the Lagos State Government banned the use of Okada and Keke in Lagos. It also affected Oride, Gokada and other motorcycle hailing services.
At the time of filing this report, two people had been hit by bullets. A man and a woman, who are yet to be identified, were hit by bullets along Ijora Olopa Road. The man has been rushed to a local physician, who would remove the bullet out of his leg.
Schools within the axis have all shutdown while the violence continues. Some horse owners were seen taking advantage of the situation by offering people horseback rides (maybe for a particular amount of money), while most people were seen walking to their various destinations.
Amidst all these, a lot of Lagosians have taken to various social media platforms to express their frustration on the situation.
On Twitter, a lot of tweeps have been tweeting on the hashtag #Okadaban. There are some of those tweets:
