One Mr. Abiodun Makinde has been arrested by the Ogun state police after being identified as a suspected “One chance’ robber by two ladies who were his victims.
The suspect is believed to belong to the one chance robbery gang, Notorious for terrorising motorists and commuters in Ogun state..
Two victims identified as Gloria Edoh and Saidat Akinola spotted the suspect in public and they raised alarm and attracted attention towards the suspect, explaining that they had boarded the same cab as Makinde. Midway through the journey they were forced to give up their belongings when two men sitting in the cab with them pulled out knives on them.
According to a statement by Abimbola Oyeyemi the police public relations office in Ogun state, the sum of N37,000 was collected from one while N480,000 was snatched from the other by Makinde’s gang member as well as their phones before throwing them off on the side of the freeway.
Abimbola, also added that the two ladies managed to find their way to a hospital where they were treated for injuries they sustained when they were pushed off the moving vehicle .
While leaving the hospital, Abimbola said, they recognised Makinde as one of the robbery suspects who robbed them and quickly raised the alarm. The chaos attracted officers Atan Ota and Abiodun Salau who arrived at the scene to make the arrest.
The police also confirm that another victim who was not named in the report pointed out Makinde as one of the criminals that attacked, robbed, r*ped and made away with her pants and other belongings a few weeks ago.
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) now has ownership of the case as instructed by the Ogun state police Commissioner Bashir Makama,
