A first of its kind, The south Korean company released the LG V50 ThinQ with Dual Screen cover. Its own version of a foldable phone. Maybe this is a good sign of things to come and turn away from LG always playing catch up with the rest of the smartphone.
LG V50 ThinkQ powered by Andriod. A Smartphone with Dual Screen
The triple camera is flush with the phone’s surface, eliminating any imbalance when laid on a flat surface
Attaching the back cover is simple as it snaps into place easily making the phone a little bulky but not too much to make it uncomfortable in the hand.
There are buttons on the left side of the case that are used for the volume control and Google Assistant buttons. There is an opening on the right side for the power button.
On the flip side, the cover has a large opening taking up almost half of the back. The three cameras on the back of the phone and finger print sensor are accessible via that opening. Connected together by POGO pins in the back cover holds the LG V50 to the Dual Screen cover.
The two hinges found along the spine of the cover supports a 90, 180 and 360 degrees rotation of the screen from front to back.
It’s a less expensive dual display folding experience than either the Galaxy Fold or Mate X will offer soon.
The P OLED screen offers a full 1440p screen display but the downside to this is that when you attach the dual screen cover, you are limited down to 1080p.
You will require an app knows as the Wiz lock – this allows you to fold the screen all the back and while the back screens goes off, the screen is saved for when you pull it back open bringing you right back to the page you were viewing prior to folding the screen.
Testing from multiple users expressed a slow to load camera that fails to focus when taking pictures of close up objects
Landscape view and you feel like you are holding on to a tiny laptop with dual screen like the Asus Zenbook Pro.
LG V50 looks and feels like a well-refined phone, except for the price, personally i think its still too high for its price which can attributed to the dual cover. Other phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro and Galaxy S10e can be found at much lower prices.
For now we enjoy a dual screen LG phone as we await the V60. Maybe it will come with a dual screen as well.
