Manchester City on Saturday night sent Newport County parking out of the FA Cup as they secured a 4-1 victory at Rodney Parade to qualify for quarter-finals.
The League one side held Pep Guardiola’s men to ransom during the first half before Leroy Sane broke the deadlock in the second period to open up the game.
Phil Foden scored to double their tally 15 minutes from time, although Padraig Amond set pulses racing around Rodney Parade by getting a goal back.
But, Foden responded with a third goal before Riyad Mahrez notched his side’s fourth in added time.
Michael Flynn’s side will surely be satisfied with their output as they set to face Notts County in League Two on Tuesday.
Meanwhile City will battle Schalke in their Champions League round-of-16 clash in Germany on Wednesday.
