Lionel Messi scored the only goal in Camp Nou as Barcelona defeated Levante 1-0 to win their 26th league title.
Lionel Messi came off the bench to score his 34th Laliga Santander goal of the season which helped Barcelona successfully defend thier league crown.
Levante had arrived in Catalonia with the aim of stopping/postponing the planned party in camp nou ahead of the game.
Ernesto Valverde’s men were frustrated to a goalles draw in the first half, and it forced the manager’s hands to bring on Lionel Messi– who was initially inked to be rested ahead of Liverpool’s visit in Champions League.
In the 62nd minute, the laliga top scorer did what he knows how to do best.
The Argentine put a curler past Levante goalkeeper, Fernandez who had been doing a wonderful job inbetween the sticks.
Levante almost got an equalizer late in the game but Bardhi’s attempt could only hit the woodwork and Ter Stegen was able to compose himself quick enough to grab the loose ball.
Barcelona secured a difficult win and another league title in the bag under Ernesto Valverde.
They however won’t be celebrating this one for too much, as they set their sights on Wednesday’s Champions League Semi final first leg game against Liverpool.
