Miss Nigeria, Nyekachi Douglas, has been making the country proud in the Miss World pageant where she has just won the top model preliminary competition.
The 69th edition of the Miss World pageant will be held tonight, 14th December 2019, at the ExCel London in London, United Kingdom, where the current reigning queen, Vanessa Ponce of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event.
The 2019 Miss World pageant has been underway in London for three weeks, putting over 100 contestants from different countries through a series of competitions and challenges on the way to naming the top 40 quarter-finalists who will compete in the main event, and one of that competition is the top model preliminary competition where contestants will participate in three rounds of runway modeling while wearing dresses of renowned London fashion designer Sandra Rhodes.
Nyekachi Douglas, a 21-year-old public health student, model, and Nigeria representative was on Thursday night on December 12, 2019, announced as the winner of the top model preliminary competition.
Douglas who was born in Ibaa Emohua LGA, Rivers State, and whose dream is to own her own fashion line seems to be one of the favorites to win the pageant. She also was in Top 10 head to head challenge, Top 10 Beauty with a purpose and first runner up at the sports day competition.
There is a big chance that she might take the Miss World crown, history has it that at least three former winners of the Top Model competition has indeed, been crowned the Miss World of their year. We hope this would be the case for Douglas.
