The Ijebu-Ode/ Benin Expressway has experience yet again, another devastating accident as a mum died after her car plunges into the river while taking her daughter to school.
A Lexus Jeep plunged into a river on Sunday afternoon along Ijebu-Ode/Benin expressway, as one of the car passengers lost her life and the other suffered injuries. The car was traveling from lekki in Lagos into Ijebu-Ode state Ogun state.
The public relations officer of ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatude Akinbiyi said that the accident happened around 2:00 pm in the afternoon and was caused by speeding. According to him the driver was a mother driving her daughter to school but unfortunately plunged into the river in a bit to be there by speeding.
Hitvibz gathered from an eyewitness at the scene who wishes to remain anonymous, that the accident was cause by a Dangote trailer, which hit the woman’s car right into the river.
This leaves us questioning what really happened as there are conflicting reports between eye witnesses and the TRACE PR Officer.
The daughter has since been taken to the hospital.
We send our thoughts and prayers to her and the family at this trying times and we should all remember speed kills so be cautious on the highway and be mindful of other road users.
