Nigerians woke up to a disappointing news that the 2019 General Elections has been postponed, thanks to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) attributing the whole saga to lack of logistics.
INEC on the eve of the 2019 Nigeria General Elections announced that the elections will be postponed due to logistics.
They claimed that there were not enough ballot boxes for the election.
The elections schedule to hold on the 16th of February, has now been moved forward.
The Presidential and National Assembly elections will now be held on the 23rd of February while the Governorship, State House of Assembly and the FCT Area Council Elections is to hold on 9th March, 2019.
In the early hours of the morning, official INEC twitter account, tweeted the news.
The tweet read:
“The #NigeriaDecides2019 Elections now to hold on; 23rd February, 2019 for Presidential and National Assembly while the Governorship, State House of Assembly and the FCT Area Council Elections is to hold on 9th March, 2019”
INEC also released a press statement on the new development.
One cannot deny the fact that, this new development is a not only a disappointment to Nigerians but also an embarrassment to Nigeria.
The Electoral body had four years to plan this election only to cut it off on the eve of the elections due to lack of materials.
What then were their preparations for the elections for the past four years?
