The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has recently taken action against its presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.NNPP Takes Shocking Move: Expels Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso from Party

Hitvibz understands that this decision was prompted by his refusal to cooperate with the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

Sen. Kwankwaso had previously faced suspension from the party’s leadership during the National Convention held on August 29, 2023, in Lagos.

Following this, a Disciplinary Committee was established to address allegations of significant anti-party activities and mismanagement of party/campaign funds.

The NEC instructed this committee to invite Sen. Kwankwaso to provide a defense within a five-day timeframe.

The NEC had explicitly cautioned that if Sen. Kwankwaso failed to engage with the Disciplinary Committee, he would be expelled from the party, in accordance with the party’s constitution for 2022 (as amended).

This expulsion decision was officially communicated on Tuesday in Lagos through a statement by NNPP’s Acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abdulsalam Abdulrasaq.

Abdulrasaq conveyed the NEC’s resolution following an emergency session held on Friday, September 1:

Following the refusal of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to appear before the disciplinary committee which sat on Thursday, August 31 after being duly invited in writing, he is hereby expelled from NNPP with immediate effect.

The statement further reads that;

The erstwhile presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will be reported to appropriate quarters to answer questions on financial impropriety relating to mismanagement of public funds.”

It’s important to note that the party faced internal strife when NWC members loyal to Sen. Kwankwaso suspended the party’s founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, and the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major, on August 24.
