It was mixed feelings for Rivers United’s technical adviser Stanley Eguma as the full time whistle was blown on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Rivers United fell to a 17th minutes strike from Nyima Nwagua as Kano Pillars inflicted a second defeat of the season for the “Pride of Rivers.”
Eguma, who spoke to the media after the game disclosed that his side lost the game due to carelessness from the path of his defense line but added that the Wike Boys have to prepare for other games.
“It’s not a bad game, We lost that game against the run of play. We conceded that goal out of the carelessness of the defence but it’s part of the game. We have lost today, we have to go back to prepare for other games,” he said.
On not being able to breakdown a 10 man Pillars
“We tried our best to see how we could break Pillars defence but lots of misses of chances cost us defeat.”
On what to expect against Adamawa United
“It’s another game, we have to go back and prepare for that game. The league is still ‘hotting up’ and every point is important. So those three points are very important and we have to work towards it to ensure that we win that game.”
Rivers United are now two points behind the league leader, Nasarawa United.
