A child trafficking group was arrested on the 13th of April by the police of the Imo State
The state police commissioner, Rabiu Ladido mentioned that one Chinonye Oparaocha was delivered of a baby on February 8th at an undisclosed clinic along Nkede Road in Owerri West local government area.
The said mother Oparaocha conspired with confidence Anyanwu who happens to be a nurse and native of the Umuhu Okwuato in Aboh Mbaise local government area accompanied by Amaeze Anyanwu who helped in the movement of the new born to Port Harcourt in Rivers state where one Duru Christian was there waiting for them. On arrival at Port Harcourt, Duru Christian alongside with one Mrs. George Iyowuna met with them from the hideout, takes over the baby and handed him to a prospective buyer identified as Mr and Mrs Williams who then eventually handed over a sum of N850,000 to the mother of the baby.
The said suspect was arrested by the police who then recovered the baby boy who has been already named after the buyer’s name as Abiya Williams while other suspect are being sought for with an arrest warrant.
Through the statement made by the suspect to the police concerning the crime, investigation is still ongoing but the names of the suspects are being released as:
Chinonye Oparaocha (23), Confidence Anyanwu (28), Duru Christian (38), George Iyowuna (38) and William Cynthia (44) year old.
