Liverpool on Tuesday night suffered a 2-0 defeat against Red Star Belgrade during their group stage game at the Stadio Rajko Milic, thanks to Pavkov, who was on target twice.
The Red Star opened scoring 22 minutes into the game as a wonderful corner was fired in by Marin and it perfectly picked out Pavkov, who rose high above his marker and easily beats Alisson with a bullet header to make it 1-0.
Marin did a great job to put the ball on a plate for Pavkov and Liverpool were disappointed with their defending though, as they really should have closed down the striker much better.
7 minutes later, Pavkov strike again to double his tally. Liverpool clumsily lost possession, allowing the striker to muscle his way forward. He easily shrugs off Wijnaldum on his way forward and then unleashed a brilliant, 25-yard shot that flies past Alisson and into the top corner of the net.
Marin, once again played an important role in another impressive attacking move. Liverpool were really poor defensively, though, and it’s left Klopp looking understandably bemused over on the touchline.
A well deserved victory for Red Star Belgrade.
