An incident has occurred at the popular New Umuahia road in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia state, were a police officer allegedly killed a petrol attendant, Chibuisi Okameme.
A Facebook user identified as Nwachukwu Christian Chibuike shared a post on his time line of the killing of Chibuisi Okameme, whom he said was killed as a result of an accidental discharge on the part of the police officer, Inspector Stanley Azu.
Nwachukwu further stated that Chibuisi wasn’t the first youth to have been killed by a police officer in the pass few days.
Another Facebook user attested to the fact that within the first week of the stay @ home order some police men, who in attempt to enforce the order made by the Governor, have killed two persons.
According to reports, it was gathered that the incident occurred when the police officer in question tried to stop a vehicle which flouted the lock down order due to the Covid-19 outbreak, but the driver defied the order.
In the chase to stop the faulting driver the police officer shot at the driver but the bullet missed his target and hit the victim, Chibuisi who was at his business center.
On arriving at the Abia State Teaching hospital were he was rushed for urgent medical attention, he was pronounced dead.
Until his death late Chibuisi was a staff of the Greemac Energy Ltd., a filling station owned by a relative.
Some persons have shared their views owning to the incident, stating that the police attitude towards human life needs to be call to order while others blamed the victims for their non – compliance to the stay @ home order.
