Nigerians are yet to be sensitized on the importance of wildlife, as a gigantic crocodile caught by some fishermen at Sagbama river in Bayelsa State, was butchered and shared by residents of the area.
A Twitter user identified as Ala Mathias Nyenye shared pictures of a big crocodile captured by some fisherman and brought ashore only to be butchered, he tagged the post ‘Caught in Bayelsa State’.
According to Ala the big crocodile was caught in Bayelsa and was immediately slaughtered and shared among the people whom right now would have digested the crocs meat in their stomach.
The photos of the crocodile caught at Sagbama river, and how it was shared by the residents of the area has gone viral on social media platforms.
Just few weeks after some people of Burutu in Delta State were seen dragging a Sea lion on the street, after it was caught in the community river, it was reported to have been butchered for meat afterwards.
Also, it’s been barely 20 days after a group of fishermen trapped and killed a hippopotamus in Samanaji town in Koko Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
