Just 20 minutes into the game Pulisic broke the deadlock for the Blues with a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner, thanks to Pedro with a through ball.
2 minutes later, Chelsea were awarded a penalty, Christian Pulisic draws a foul in the penalty area. Ross Barkley stepped forward and converts the penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. That’s his third goal in as many pre-season games.
28 minutes on, Pulisic doubled his tally to give Chelsea a 3-0 lead, thanks to Ross Barkley’s superb long range assist from behind the half way line
50th minute, Jerôme Junior Onguéné scored a header to pull one back for the host team after David Luiz’s mistake.
9 minutes later, Pedro scored a goal worthy of the Puskas award to make the scoreline 4-1. Barkley on fire with another assist and Pedro with a beautiful backheel goal.
86 minutes, Minamino scores from the penalty spot for RB Salzburg to make it 4-2.
But Batshuyai wrapped the game up thanks to some high press to complete the rout for Chelsea and make the scoreline 5-2.
And to think its game over, Red Bull Salzburg refused to give up as they pulled another one back to make it 5-3 at full time.
With the presence of Pulisic, seems the Blues won’t be missing their former star man, Eden Hazard any time soon after all. Frank Lampard’s men has really been impressive through their pre-season campagne.
A very entertaining and good game for a lot of our players (Pulisic, Barkley, Kovacic, to name a few) still some work to be done defensively but quite a happy performance from the Blues.
