Chelsea forward, Tammy Abraham has been heavily criticized and racially abused after he missed a spot kick against Liverpool during the UEFA Super Cup final at Istanbul on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old missed the Blues fifth spot-kick in their 5-4 penalty shootout defeat and reports later emerged that the striker had been targeted on social media.
Kick It Out, in a statement called the online racist abuse of the forward “disgusting” and “increasingly predictable“.
“Last night we received reports of racist abuse directed at Tammy Abraham on social media after Chelsea’s UEFA Super Cup match. Such abuse is now increasingly predictable, but no less disgusting,” Kick it out said.
In response to the incident, Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford decided to send his support and words of encouragement to the Chelsea striker, Abraham.
He wrote on his official twitter page;
“Keep your head held high @tammyabraham we’ve all had them saved, that’s football 🤷🏽♂️ We should be celebrating young English talent not this.”

Meanwhile, report states that Twitter has come in terms with football anti-discrimination group, Kick It Out to discuss racist abuse for the first time.
