Former Chelsea defender, David Luiz has revealed reasons why he decided to the Europa League Champions for Arsenal.
The Brazilian disclosed that philosophy differences with Frank Lampard led to his Chelsea departure.
He noted that a difference in vision with the 41-year-old Chelsea manager ultimately led to his exit from Stamford Bridge this summer.
The defender joined the North London side on deadline day, bringing an end to a three-year honeymoon with the Blues and making it the second time he would leave Chelsea.
He made his Arsenal debut on Saturday at the Emirate stadium, where they secured a 2-1 victory over Burnley.
While speaking with Mundo ESPN, Luiz disclosed that he had one-on-one meeting with the new Chelsea boss – and former teammate – Lampard.
He said;
“It is a new challenge in my career, where I took the decision to fight for new things, and I enjoyed it in the best way possible. Lampard had a different plan for the year. So we spoke in total honesty, and he made it clear that he had different ideas from mine. So I had this opportunity, to receive an offer from Arsenal, which is a great club.”
Adding that;
“I still respect Chelsea. It’s never easy for people to understand everything that goes through. But my decision was also to respect Chelsea and their new manager, who wanted to implement a different philosophy at the club. And so I decided to get on this new journey, a new home, where I’ll do everything to shine as well.”
